We are seeing the emergence of influencers in India. But people are also, at many times, skeptical of what these influencers actually do! But the good influencers are shaping or reshaping the public opinion on certain things that most people aren’t even aware of. And these things are directly or indirectly squashing people’s opportunities or suppressing them from succeeding. Good influencers provide original perspectives on the problems and their solutions.
A lot of the educational future is now going to be shaped by influencers- directly or indirectly. They are going to place pressure on traditional institutions to review what they are teaching. The most sought-after Educationists have started feeling that they are not really inspired, aren’t getting fulfilled, self-esteem is losing, and don’t have a great influence and impact! People have started to wake up to the fact that, obviously, there is something that they don’t know. That’s where good influencers play an important role in bringing these issues to the level surface because we can’t rely on traditional media to educate us completely on what is happening.
The problem now is that in this influencer space, there is abundant contamination, too. There are a lot of players in this space who don’t really have genuine expertise, and they are just taking information from one end and resharing it. In many cases, they are misinforming people and not providing deep and well-researched perspectives. A lot of them are fake in terms of the lifestyles that they are demonstrating is not the real lifestyle that they are living in. But the fact is also that you get bad people in every field and every industry.
People should not be dismissing the emergence of this industry because the coaches, mentors, consultants, speakers, and advisors are there to cover up the largely broken education system, and somebody needs to fix it since the institutions are not fixing it, and the social media has given a platform to influencers to actually get their voice out, and people can decide, no one is forcing. The good thing about this setup is that when you enroll yourself in a School or a university, you are forced to comply. However, when you are following an influencer, no one is forcing you. You’re choosing, and it’s a choice!
